Gun violence has taken a big toll on the Providence community environmentally, economically, and socially. This impacts the environment because when someone dies due to gun violence in Providence people pay their respects by spray painting houses, putting candles and beer bottles all over sidewalks, teddy pears and balloons on poles creating dirtier communities and waste because of the low maintenance of these places.
Gun violence impacts providence economically because more taxpayer money is going to the government so that they can do what they possibly can to resolve or limit the amount of gun on the streets. Socially, gun violence has many impacts and stems from many social mindsets and backgrounds. If one looks at countries worldwide that have comparable or more amounts of guns, then it’s clear that the U.S. suffers far more mass shootings than other countries do.
This is clearly a function of the mindset towards guns in America. Similarly, the social impacts of a shooting are numerous. Obviously, the friends and family of the victims grieve, and also social discord is sparked as people on both sides of the gun control debate call for change. In addition to , the youth is impacted by gun violence as well. As young , we look up to those around us and are impacted by our communities and what happens in them.
When kids experience traumatic deaths due to gun violence it leaves them with feelings that they are too young to process pushing them to follow the ones before them who did the shootings, or wanting revenge for the ones who were taken from them. They don’t have that support system because instead of their parents telling them things will be okay and talking to them about what they feel they are working overtime to pay for funeral expenses.
Gun violence is a worthwhile cause because, unlike a lot of other issues, legislators who promote gun control tend to be almost completely uneducated about guns. This has caused many problems as faulty and nonsensical gun control has been pushed through, leading to nothing but problems and distrust between the two sides of the issue. With the last five years containing the three deadliest mass shootings in American history and no meaningful conversations occurring, then it is very clear that Gun violence has spiraled out of control and there needs to be a change.
